Welcome to Wild East™

What is the Wild East? The general geographic area adjoining and surrounding the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The last remaining long-distance contiguous open space in the eastern United States.

Wild East embraces sweeping vistas and photogenic landscapes; native plants and wildlife which populate diverse ecosystems; important historic and cultural sites; and unique and charming trail town communities. Wild East honors adventurers and dreamers – those who ambitiously set out to hike the Trail’s entire 2,192 miles to weekend backpackers to day travelers.
